EARN A BACHELOR’S AND MASTER’S DEGREE IN ONLY 5 YEARS!
You can fast-track your way into the teaching profession by pursuing an accelerated degree at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University! Save time and money by enrolling in a five-year Adolescence Education program, and receive both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree a full year sooner than if earned separately. Receive Professional Certification to teach grades 7 to 12 upon passing the required New York State teaching certification exams.
B.S. in Adolescence Education (Grades 7-12): Mathematics/M.A. in Applied Mathematics
The 154-credit accelerated degree program prepares you for New York State initial certification as a middle and high school mathematics teacher. Upon successful completion of the required courses, you will be awarded both a Bachelor of Science in Adolescence Education (Grades 7-12): Mathematics and the Master of Arts in Applied Mathematics in just five years, a full year less than if the two degrees were pursued separately. Administered jointly by C.W. Post’s School of Education and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the program draws on the resources of one of New York’s top-rated teacher education institutions and a well established, widely acclaimed center for liberal arts education.
- The B.S. in Adolescence Education: Mathematics (Grades 7-12) offers an in-depth look into the theory and practice of teaching middle and high school students, using classroom instruction to foster intellectual, social and personal development. You will study the dynamics of group and individual motivations, and learn to develop innovative instruction plans.
- The M.A. in Applied Mathematics provides a comprehensive overview of the mathematics principles and skills required in business and industry, as well as a foundation for doctoral-level study. Professors with top degrees from prominent universities teach with an outstanding diversity of perspective and depth of expertise.
Qualities That Set Our Program Apart
- A complete undergraduate and graduate education for less time and expense
- Extensive network of relationships with school districts throughout the New York metro area
- Small classes and professors with top credentials
