Value Line Investment Survey Company Information databases
Use Value Line to find concise company profiles with key investment data including retrospective, current, and forecasted financials; timeliness, safety, and technical rankings; and, investment analysis and opinion. Industry data is available as well as screening features and a list of the top 100 stocks. Updated weekly with company reports updated quarterly. Mergent Online Company Information databases
The Mergent database offers comprehensive company information including15-years of financial data, historical information, equity reports, SEC filings, annual reports, and excellent report features to create custom lists of comparative company financial data.

Hoover's Online Company Information databases
Use Hoover's Online to find overview, history, and some financial information about your company. Easy links are provided for SEC filings.

Lexis-Nexis Company Dossier Company Information databases
The L-N Company Dossier database provides company overview information including a corporate snapshot, business description, corporate hierarchy, financial information, legal information, articles from newspapers & trade publications, investment reports, and more.

Industry Information:

Every company operates in a larger environment. The sources listed below will provide an understanding of factors affecting not only individual companies but all companies in an industry.

Standard & Poor's Industry Surveys (available in print at Reference Desk)
These individual booklets provide a comprehensive overview of each industry, describing and detailing major trends and factors having an impact on the industry. Especially useful is the comparative financial data on key companies in each industry.

Business & Company Resource Center Company Information databases
This database provides full-text industry overviews from the following sources:
  • Encyclopedia of American Industries
  • Encyclopedia of Emerging Industries
  • Encyclopedia of Global Industries
    To locate the industry overviews, go to:
        1. Advanced Search
        2. Select Industry Overviews from drop-down Content Area box
        3. Type in industry topic in search box (keyword)

Business Source Premier Business Databases
Several thousand U.S. and foreign industry profiles are available in this database. To locate them, select Industry Profiles under Browse. For enhanced searching, enter industry keyword(s) in search box and select Industry Overview under Document Type.


Investment (Analyst) Reports:

Value Line Investment Survey Company Information databases
Value Line analysts forecast individual stock performance for 3-to-5 years, offer timeliness, safety, and technical rankings, and provide interpretive analysis for 1,700 stocks. See part 2: Selection & Opinion for the latest economic and stock market commentary and investment advice as well as research on stocks or industries. Model portfolios are also included.

Mergent Online Company Information databases
Access to individual analyst equity reports is provided for over 4,000 large and mid-cap U.S. companies. These two-page reports offer buy, hold, and sell recommendations for the company and its peers as well as other financial data.

    To locate the Mergent Equity Research Reports:
        1. Perform search by ticker symbol or company name
        2. Select tab for TearSheets
        3. Select Equity Report
