Brookville, NY - In an arrangement that will advance research in international marketing and business initiatives, the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University welcomes the arrival of Hsin-Yu (Kevin) Shih, Ph.D. to the Campus’ College of Management’s Department of Marketing and International Business.

Dr. Shih, an assistant professor in the department of International Business Studies at National Chi Nan University in Taiwan, is spending the Spring 2007 semester working with C.W. Post Professor Tung-lung Steven Chang, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Marketing and International Business, writing a research paper, “International Technology Diffusion.” The document will examine the structural configuration of advanced countries within international diffusion networks.

“Dr. Shih is a promising, smart and energetic person,” Dr. Chang said. “We are so pleased to have him here.” The pair met two years ago when Dr. Chang served as a visiting scholar at National Chi Nan University.

A highly credentialed scholar, Dr. Shih has a doctorate in philosophy in business and management from the Institute of Business and Management at National Chiao Tung University; an M.B.A. from National Sun Yat-Sen University; and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from National Taiwan University, Taiwan. His research focus includes technology management, national innovation systems, knowledge management, electronic commerce and e-Marketing.  His Ph.D. dissertation, A Cross-Country Comparison of Institutional Functions and Innovation Diffusion in National Innovation Systems: the Case of Taiwan and China, was published in 2003.

Dr. Shih teaches several courses at National Chi Nan University, including management of innovation, R&D, technology and knowledge management, and electronic commerce.

He has published works in Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Psychology & Marketing, Tourism Management, Journal of e-Business, International Journal of Service Industry Management and Technovation. Dr. Shih also has participated in numerous international conferences, including the 2nd International Business Research Conference in Sydney, and the International Conference on Tourism in Athens.
