C.W. Post Real Estate Practitioners Institute Offers
New York State-approved Courses Classes meet new license and continuing education requirements
Brookville, N.Y. -- If you are looking to start a career in the exciting field of real estate or if you are a current real estate licensee who needs continuing education credits or wishes to further your real estate education, the Real Estate Practitioners Institute of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University, is offering a full line-up of commercial and residential real estate courses -- all of which meet New York State continuing education or license requirements. Classes begin September 9.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment of real estate brokers and sales agent is expected to grow through 2016 to meet the increasing housing needs of a growing population. For those who wish to become a real estate salesperson or broker, C.W. Post offers introductory courses that are qualified under the new New York state license requirements including a 75-hour real estate salesperson course and a 45-hour real estate broker course.
Current real estate licensees are required to successfully complete 22.5 hours of approved real estate continuing education every two years. Courses offered through the Real Estate Certificate Program not only meet these New York State education requirements, but can also be taken toward a C.W. Post certificate in Real Estate.
The faculty is comprised of talented instructors with hands-on, real world experience. Some of the most distinguished names in the Long Island real estate industry teach the courses, sharing their own tips, theories and secrets for success. "Courses mirror current trends," said Dr. Kay Sato, assistant provost of the School of Continuing Education. "This fall, students can choose classes that span the length of the industry, from residential and commercial to courses for licensure." On tap this semester in the commercial side include Investing in Real Estate," "Introduction to Commercial and Investment Real Estate Concepts" and "Terms, Fundamentals of Commercial Leasing," "Marketing Commercial Properties," "Introduction to Acquisition and Construction Financing," "The Environment We Live In," "Negotiating the Commercial Lease," "Tools of the Trade" and Calculations and Underwriting Loans." The residential real estate track offers courses in "Marketing Residential Real Estate," "Introduction to Residential Real Estate Transactions" and "Residential Real Estate Finance." Other courses include "Understanding the Land Use Review Process" and "Fundamentals of Real Estate."
The innovative Breakfast Seminar Series tackles topics from "How to Invest in Real Estate" and "The Evolving Mortgage Banking Market" to "Appraising Income Producing Properties" and "Computer Technology for Real Estate Professionals." The convenient morning sessions allows professionals to earn a certificate of completion for studies while still being able to complete their workday.
Founded in 1972, the Real Estate Practitioners Institute provides continuing education services, seminars, white papers and luncheons that address topics of interest to regional real estate practitioners.
