Inauguration Day Events at C.W. Post
Tuesday, January 20, 2009 will be an historic day for the United States and the world.
The inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States will be televised from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Tuesday in two locations in Hillwood Commons: the Cinema and Lecture Hall. The Cinema and Lecture Hall will be open to all faculty, staff and students during this time. Professors are encouraged to bring their classes.
Inaugural festivities are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and will be followed by the inaugural address. Other events scheduled for Inauguration Day at the C.W. Post Campus include:
- The student chapter of the NAACP at C.W. Post will host an Inauguration Luncheon and viewing in the Pioneer Room in Hillwood Commons from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A panel of professors will discuss the significance of the election after the inaugural.
- Phi Iota Alpha and Omega Phi Beta, two prominent fraternal organizations, will host a round-table discussion from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Pioneer Room in Hillwood Commons. A tape of the inauguration will be shown.
- The seventh annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Remembrance Dinner will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the atrium of Tilles Center for the Performing Arts.
