Attorney Erica Garay to Speak at C.W. Post

Erica B. Garay, Esq.Brookville, N.Y. - Garden City attorney, Erica Garay will discuss “The Art of Selling ‘You’: How to Succeed in Business in These Turbulent Times," at the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University as part of the 2009 Provost’s Distinguished Lecture Series. Garay’s lecture will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at 6 p.m. in the Great Hall, Winnick House. This event is free and open to the public.

Prior to joining the law firm of Meyer, Suozzi, English & Klein, P.C., Ms. Garay was first an associate, and then a partner, of the firm of Rivkin Radler LLP. She also worked on two of the largest contract cases ever to go to trial in New York City and Seattle, both of which resulted in multi-million dollar verdicts in favor of her clients.

Ms. Garay concentrates on commercial litigation including corporate and partnership dissolutions, shareholder disputes and business valuations, arbitrations, trials, appeals, employment law, and general business representation. She has served on steering committees charged with planning the course of major pieces of litigation. She has lectured and authored articles on federal practice, employment law, restrictive covenants and trade secrets, and advises businesses on these and other corporate and commercial matters, including shareholder rights and corporate dissolutions, and governance issues.

Garay has received numerous awards and accolades and, in 2003, was inducted into the “Top 50 Women on Long Island” Hall of Fame. She has also been recognized by the American Bar Association, receiving its Distinguished Leadership award. In 2008, she was honored by the Long Island Women’s Agenda.

The lecture is sponsored by the Long Island Women’s Institute (LIWI), which is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences of the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. The lecture will be moderated by Roslyn Muraskin, Ph.D., director of LIWI.
