FRIENDS OF POST ROWING

Welcome! Thank you for your interest in supporting C.W. Post Crew. Our sport requires such an extensive demand on its participants with not much recognition for or understanding of all the hard work we put into it, that we are truly grateful for our friends, family, and members of the community who contribute in any way that you can. If there’s some way that you can think of being actively involved with the team that you do not see here, please contact us; we are always open to suggestions and are delighted to hear from you.

First and foremost, while we are not generally known as a spectator sport, regattas are actually a great place to hang out, trade and listen in on the great stories from the season, run into alumni from years past, and watch the day’s races! We compete throughout the Northeast as close as Oakdale, NY and New Rochelle, NY and as far away as Saratoga Springs, NY, Whitney Point, and NYBoston, MA (see our schedule for more details). We would love nothing more than for a crowd to be gathered near the finish line or at various locations along the race course (we need support throughout the whole race) of adoring fans all cheering wildly for Post Crew. It may not seem like much, but knowing someone on shore is rooting for us helps us reach down inside ourselves and perform better. Who knows, one day you may be responsible for our winning a close race. We want to share our successes with you.

If you’re interested in a more tangible sign of your support of Post Crew, we invite you to bring a few snacks with you to our regattas. We rowers are a hungry bunch, and there’s nothing we enjoy more the morning before a race than a fresh, warm bagel or a nice juicy orange and a sandwich after winning a close one. Water and Powerade are always appreciated, as we love relaying the stroke for stroke details of our latest race while we regain our energy over a nice cold one.

If you happen to live near one of our racing locations and are suffering from empty nest syndrome after sending your young child to join the ranks of C.W. Post Crew, how would you like to have him/her back for a night, along with his/her new-found friends and teammates? While we do have a budget for such things as regatta entry forms and travel, hotel accommodations are rarely factored in, and we college kids could always use a good home-cooked meal the night before a big race.

Other than that, just supporting your young rower(s) in his/her endeavors goes a long way towards the overall success of the team. Supporting the constant need for rowing gear and staying interested and involved in what’s going on with C.W. Post Crew is so important. While we’re sure you’re extremely proud of that brother/daughter/niece/ grandchild you have participating on the team, just taking the time to let them hear that will boost their confidence and pride in themselves and their team.
