 The Pratt Recreation Center is named for Jeanette Pratt and the late Edmund T. Pratt, Jr., who served as a Long Island University Trustee and former Chairman and CEO of Pfizer, Inc. The Pratt's made a multi-million dollar gift to C.W. Post to help fund the construction of a state-of-art recreation center which opened in 2002. In 1976, their son Randolf graduated from C.W. Post. At Randolf's graduation, his parents were impressed with the great diversity of the C.W. Post student body. The Pratt's gift to C.W. Post was a testament to their firm belief in the mission of Long Island University: to provide quality higher education to students from all walks of life. The Pratt's donation also included multi-million dollar gifts to the Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University, which constructed the Jeanette and Edmund T. Pratt, Jr. Center for Academic Studies, and to Southampton College of Long Island University, for the renovation of an administration building. |
